John W. HessPresident of Compu-Save Consulting Services, Inc.John Hess has been involved in the computer field, both as a hobbyist, and as a professional since 1967. First as a Crypto Systems technician in the Air Force serving in Europe, and then as a Crypto Specialist in Viet Nam. After leaving the Air Force he was employed by Burroughs Corp. to maintain their B3500 mainframes and associated equipment. He then moved to GTE Information Systems to maintain their Video Terminal Network System and also worked to maintain all modem links for the American Stock Exchange. Looking for faster advancement, he set his sights on some smaller, more innovative companies. He started with Badger Meter Corp., a fast moving and inventive company specializing in fast data terminal transmission equipment. There, he headed their first field service operation. He also helped with the redesign of the terminal equipment to increase the efficiency and productivity. Seeing a better opportunity with a fast growing third party maintenance company, he signed on with SirVess Inc., first as a technician, then as New York Manager. After several years with Sirvess the entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and he formed Digitec Inc. with a partner in 1978, then Digitec of New Jersey, Compu-Save and Compu-Save Consulting Services. A career stretching over 38 years, 28 of which in his own company. He has now concentrated on the point of sale market with great success. Compu-Save has automated over 200 retail businesses from large retail operations to automotive garages. Liquor Stores are now a specialty as well as Diners and Pizza Shops.
